• Our Transition Policy and approach to transition every year

  Since last year we have decided upon an approach to transition that we feel will

  - build resilience,

  - help children to accept change as a normal part of school life and life in general, 

  - support children making friendships across the year group 

  - create year group teams, not just class teams,

  - allow for fresh starts each year rather children being stuck in the same groups year after year. 

   

  When we create new classes every year, we will take into account friendship groups and children's individual needs as much as we can. We will also work with any children identified as needing more support with transitions in Summer 2 term. 

   

  Our policy has been emailed out to you but is also saved within the Newsletter section of this website.

• Our Updated Home/School Communication Policy

  Over the past few years, we have changed the ways in which we communicate with you and vice versa. As we now have greater use of Class Dojo and email, we have updated our Policy to reflect this. We also used Class Dojo during lockdown to keep in contact with parents via messaging, we use this less now. The policy has been emailed out to you but is also in the Newsletter section of our website. Please read it so that you are clear on how to get in touch with us and how we will get in touch with you. Thank you. 

• Our Wood Street Mission book Roadshow was a wonderful day!

  A massive thank you to Wood Street Mission for visiting our school on Friday 16th September. We had such an amazing day choosing some really great books to take home and keep! All the children thoroughly enjoyed having a good browse through the hundreds of books WSM brought into our school. We can't thank them enough for helping us start our year off as we mean to go on...getting our heads stuck in a great book! Take a look at the photos to see for yourselves how much the day was enjoyed by all!

• Marking the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II

  Dear Parents and Carers,

   

  I wanted to update you as promised as soon as we had more information. We have had this message from the DfE:

   

  The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges.

   

  This means that school will be closed on Monday 19th September.

   

  This week we will be working on our memorial books. Every class will have a part to play in this.

   

  On Friday 16th September, the books will be available for parents and people in our community to sign, leave a message or just to read. We will then be sending one to the Royal Family and we will be keeping one as a memory of this sad but historic occasion.

   

  The memorial books will be available at the front of school on Friday 16th September:

  
  7:45-9:00am
  3:00-5:30pm

   

  Please come and read and/or sign/leave a message if you can so that you are part of our commemorations.

• At last! A community event in school!

  Spring into Easter event on Friday 1st April at 1:45pm for Years 1-6. You will be able to attend school, picking your child/ren up from class and then move around school, taking part in activities in classes. The activities will have a Spring/Easter theme and will reflect a range of curriculum areas. There will also be a Bake Sale in the hall and PFA will be running their raffle and Easter Treasure Hunt. 

  Year 6 pupils will be running some fundraising for British Red Cross and UNICEF as well as raising some money for a greenhouse!

• STOP and DROP update and PIA news

• Next S.P.A.C.E. in schools meeting - Monday 7th February

  On Monday 7th February, we will be hosting the 2nd meeting of the S.P.A.C.E. in schools project. This session will be a sensory workshop delivered by parents for parents with children with additional needs. 

  Do come along for this fun and informative session. Meet at the front office after you have dropped your children off. 

• S.P.A.C.E. in schools - first meeting to be held on January 24th 8:45-10:15am

  We are excited to announce that the S.P.A.C.E. group are holding their first support meeting for parents with children who have additional needs on Monday January 24th and every fortnight after that. 

   

  The group will be run by a committed group of parents who have children with SEN, it is a great opportunity for our parents to get support from other parents who 'get it' 

   

  Do come along, you won't regret it!

  Dear Parents and Carers,

  I hope that this message finds you all well and having had a good summer break. I am sure that you are all hoping for a smooth year - so are we!
  
  We have been busy getting ready for welcoming our children back to school today and are excited at the thought of a brilliant year ahead! We are planning on this year being as close to the norm as it possibly can be. We have carried out our risk assessment (available on the school website on today) and have reviewed our procedures with the aim of keeping our community as safe as we can, whilst protecting the education of our children

   

  Our latest Parent Handbook for this year has been sent by email and is on Class Dojo but is now also in the Newsletters section of this website. In this, we have outlined the steps we will take and how we will ensure that this year goes as smoothly as possible for all.
  
  Please make sure that you read it as it does outline important changes that you will need to know.
  
  Key changes/points you need to know are:
  - there will be NO ONE WAY system. The entrance to the school for drop off and pick up will be the gate to the playground at the front of school.
  - The delivery gates on Croft Hill Rd will be locked and no longer used as a way in and out.
  - School doors will open at 8:45am and children will filter up their staircase (or go to Nursery/Reception)
  - The School Day will now BEGIN at 9:00am. The gates will close at 9:00am.
  - Anyone after 9:00am will be classed as Late and parents will have to sign children in at the Office.
  - When fully open - Nursery pick up time will be 3:10pm.
  - ALL OTHER YEAR GROUPS will now end their day at 3:20pm - this is a trial to see if it works so please bear with us for a few weeks!
  - The gate will be closed and we will let parents in at 3:20pm. The same gate can be used for exit but please feel free to walk around the school building, through Nursery, to ease congestion.
  - All children need to wear full school uniform.
  - PE Kits will still be worn on PE days - but no hoodies, just school jumpers or cardigans on top.
  
  There will ne no mobile phones allowed in school at all. If your child is in Year 6 and needs to have a phone to walk home. You must write into school to give consent and the phone must be brought into the school Office at beginning of the day and picked up by your child from the Office at the end of the day. If we find any children in school with a phone that has not been consented to by parents and school, it will be confiscated and returned to their parent in person. Please understand that this is to keep our children safe and also to remind them that phones are not needed when at school.
  
  We also had an explosion of Pop-its last year. Children will not be able to use Pop-its in class without their parent having a discussion with the Class Teacher and the need and use being agreed. If your child has an SEN need that warrants support for fidgeting, there are also many things we have in school that we can try using. Our experience of Pop-its is that they often cause more distraction and do not enable children to focus.
  
  Final update: we have not been able to get the Stop and Drop ready yet but have today finally received the lease that will enable us to start preparing the land. This Stop and Drop space will happen!!
