Year 6 Leavers' Assembly

Congratulations year 6 on your fantastic assembly - lots of laughs, smiles and tears (as well as great performances!)

Big thank you to the children for all of their hard work and to Miss Considine for making it happen!

Looking forward now to Prom.

Have a look at our curriculum flier to find out what we are learning about this half term.

What did we learn about in Summer Term 1?

Business Enterprise Day

Well done to the school's numeracy ambassadors (who have been acting as dragons from Dragons' Den) and supporting 5 businesses to hold a successful Business Enterprise afternoon.  Look out for the display in school for more information.

World War 2 poetry based on the book 'Rose Blanche.'

Last week it was Safer Internet Day, 5/6O wrote a poem to remind everyone how to stay safe online!

5/6 have been really lucky this week, they have all had the chance to go ice skating!

HALF TERM HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

Our project this half term has been about the rainforest.  You're holiday homework challenge is to create a piece of work on another of the Earth's climate zones.  The project can take any form that you like and we look forward to seeing the results!

OUTDOOR ADVENTUROUS AVTIVITIES/NUMERACY

Make sure you take a look at the pictures below of the first group of year 6 children who have gone out with NACRO to develop problem solving and reasoning skills - as well as getting truly soaked!  Something for all the other year 6's to look forward to!!!

Year 6 Outdoor Adventurous Activity/Numeracy - Alderley Edge

A big well done to the first 12 children from year 6 who participated in the OAA in Alderley Edge.  I'm told the children walked 4 miles and ended-up in a cave that is often a home for the local bat population.  Sadly there is no picture evidence of this as someone forgot the iPad (Mrs Thornley!!!)

However, look out for the pictures from this Friday's gorge walk which we will make sure go on the website

5/6 Newsletter September 2016

We've attached a copy of the newsletter that went out on 07/09/16 with key information on it.  The biggest change is for PE which will mean that:

1) All year 5 and 6 children will need to come into school on a Monday morning in their PE kit.  They will bring their uniform in with them and change after their morning PE session.

2) On a Friday, all year 5 and 6 children will have PE in the afternoon so they will need to come into school in their uniform but have their PE kit in a bag.

As the children could be doing both indoor and outdoor PE on a Monday and a Friday, PE kit means; shorts, t-shirt, trainers and jumper/hoodie/tracksuit bottoms for outdoor (depending on the weather).

Thank-you
