Activities for week beginning 23rd March

MATHS - week beginning 23/03/20

In school, we use White Rose Maths to deliver our maths teaching.  They have very kindly set up a parents page to help us to continue to deliver maths over the next few months.  This week's work builds on the work we have been doing in class (lots of work on fractions!) by moving onto decimal fractions.  There is a video to explain each lesson, a task sheet and answers so that you can check how your child is doing.  Simply follow the link below and click on Year 5 and there is a lesson for each day this week.  If your child is struggling with the year 5 lessons, go into the year 4 lessons and do those first to build skills and confidence (it may also help jog memories about what they have already learnt about decimals).

Let us know on Class Dojo how it is going - send us some pics or messages as we would love to see them!

LITERACY

Here are this week's literacy tasks.  There are two activities for each day this week, focusing on an area of punctuation, vocabulary and grammar that we need to work on.  Also, remember to go to the Anchor Education YouTube site, where you will find loads of videos from George (who comes into school each week) singing songs and explaining all sorts of things to do with grammar

READING

If you are finding that your child has read everything in the house, follow this link to Oxford Owl for free access to a huge number of ebooks.  You will need to register, but it is free.  Just click on the link below and go to Oxford Owl at Home.  Books are organised by age and book band.

WEEKLY TASKS

Here are the tasks that can be completed over the course of this week.  Try out the art work, get stuck into some history and have a go at a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) challenge!
