Murphy has had a fabulous first day at school. He was very happy in the car on the way to school and when he arrived, he had a good sniff around Mrs Buchanan's office and had a little whimper at the 'newness of everything'. As he made himself at home and received much adoration from arriving staff, Mr Campbell, started to fix the safety gate outside Mrs Buchanan's office when disaster struck! Miss O'Hara had ordered a gate for a standard sized door and our school has wide doors (for wheelchair access!). Mr Campbell soon whipped up a home-made gate from materials around the school and fitted it to the door - we were all SUPER impressed!
Murphy soon became acclimatised to his new place of work and happily wandered into his cosy crate with some of his favourite toys and his zebra comforter. Mrs Buchanan and Murphy patiently accepted lots of visitors during the day as staff came to say hello. Murphy was amazing, friendly, gentle and interested in everyone. (Lots of staff threatened to puppy-nap him!).
When he got home back to Miss O'Hara's house he was super tired from his very first and very successful day at school! We are all so excited about our therapy dog project and what it is potentially going to bring to our school community.
