What are the aims of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Moston Fields Primary School?
We wish to ensure that each child has a happy and positive start to their school life in which they can build a foundation for a love of learning. At Moston Fields Primary School, we strongly believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and has the essential knowledge and skills they need to access to a future of their choice.
Our Early Years team strive to:
- Provide a safe and secure learning environment
- Support each child to have a happy and positive start to their school life in which they can establish a solid foundation to become a ‘lifelong learner’
- Provide an ambitious and aspirational curriculum for all, in line with the DfE Early Years Foundation Stage guidance
- Enable each child to develop socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally
- Encourage children to be independent within a secure, nurturing and friendly atmosphere
- Support children in building relationships through the development of social skills such as cooperation and sharing
- Work alongside parents and carers to meet each child’s individual needs to ensure they reach their full potential

Is your child starting Reception in September?
This is an exciting time for your child, and we look forward to working with you to support them in having the best possible start to life at Primary School. In addition to the information and support we provide as part of our transition to school, there is additional information below that you may find useful too. Some of this information is linked to 'key skills' that schools, including Moston Fields Primary School, expect children to be learning before their first day. Practising these will make your child's journey to Reception as positive as possible. There’s lots you can do at home to build your child’s confidence and independence, helping them feel emotionally and practically prepared to start school.
