HOME LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR YEAR 5

We hope that everyone is taking care of themselves and each other in these challenging times.  As school is now closed to the vast majority of pupils, we will be regularly adding activities on to our class pages for our children to complete at home.  These can be printed off and completed or just open them on the website and complete the work on paper (making a note of the activity and any question numbers).  Where possible, activities will come with answers (so look out parents before giving the children the task!)

Please make sure you keep checking the website for information and ensure that you have log-in details for Class Dojo - which will be our other information and work sharing platform.

Take care, the year 5 team.

Here are the plans for what learning we will be providing for the children whilst the school remains closed.  Some activities are to be done daily, such as maths and literacy.  Other activities (which include art, history, STEM tasks, spellings etc.) are to be completed over the course of the week.  Click on the week beginning dates below for further resources and links to learning.

Plans for Daily and Weekly Activities During School Closure

This pack provides some ideas for 'brain breaks' - short challenges for the children to complete to take a break from the work that they are doing.  A few of the challenges may not suit learning at home but a number will work really well in the house.

SPRING 2 PROJECT - ALLOTMENT

For the second half of the Spring Term, our project is 'Allotment'.

We will be growing (and tasting!) our own fruit and vegetables in the school allotment.

We will also be finding out about food grown in the UK and abroad and about the farming methods used to achieve this.

If you have any relatives who have a plot at a local allotment then, please, let us know.  It would be great if we could come and visit!

SPRING 1 - BEAST CREATOR 1

This half term, our learning project is 'Beast Creator' - we are finding out all about the amazing world of invertebrates - from ones that live in our school grounds to some of the world's most deadliest creatures!

We will also be looking after some of our own invertebrates, as well as designing some imaginary creatures!

The knowledge and skills that we will be developing in this project are below:

Also, look out for the weekly Learning Log challenges that we will be sending home as part of this project - we were blown away by some of the Stargazer home learning!  So, we are looking forward to seeing what you come up with this half term!
