  • Full opening of school to all children

    Tue 25 Aug 2020 S. Murray

    Dear Parents and Carers,

School will be open from Thursday 3rd September but not all children will return on this day.

Year 6 - ALL children will return on Thursday 3rd September and be in everyday from that point.

Years 2-5 - half of each class will have a reintegration day on Thursday 3rd and the other half of the class will have their reintegration day on the Friday 4th. Then ALL children (Years 1-5) will start fully on Monday 7th September.

Reception and Year 1 - children and their parents will have been invited to a welcome visit on either Thursday 3rd or Friday 4th September. Then half of each class will have a reintegration day on Monday 7th and the other half of the class will have their reintegration day on the Tuesday 8th.  Then ALL children from Reception and Year 1 will start fully on Wednesday 9th September.

Nursery - as above for Welcome Visits and then staggered arrangements to be given by Mrs Greenwood.

It is important that you ONLY bring your child in to school on their arranged day. If you have lost, not read or haven't received your letter you MUST ring school either on Tuesday 1st September or Wednesday 2nd September. The phones will be manned on these days and you can find out the information you need.

If children arrive at school on the wrong day, we will need to send them home with you until the day that has been arranged for them. This is so that we can operate our new ways of being in a careful and supportive manner.

It has been a long wait and we do appreciate your patience with us but please understand that we want to make the start of the school year run as smoothly as possible, whilst keeping everyone safe.

We have created a Parents Handbook for to show you what changes we have made. This will be uploaded to the website this week.

Please note that there is also a new version of the Term Time dates for 2020-2021 school year in the Newsletter section of the website. There is just one change from the previous holiday list.

We look forward to seeing you next week,

    Sarah Murray

  • Unlocking Lockdown at Moston Fields - sharing our stories

    Fri 19 Jun 2020 S. Murray

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Since March we have all been living through a situation that we never imagined. From seeing the first daily briefings from the Government to hearing those shocking words – ‘we are going into lockdown’ – we really have been living through a piece of history.

We will all have had many experiences during this time. There may well have been very sad times, possible loss of loved ones in our family and difficulties with work. Some of us have still been working and some have been at home all the time. We will also have had lots of happy times and lots of precious time with our families. One thing is certain, we have all encountered huge differences in our lives.

As parents, you will be wondering how best to help your children understand and process this time, especially as we move forward into a gradual easing of lockdown. Many children may be excited at the changes to come but some may be worried. At Moston Fields, we have been speaking with many parents about these concerns and how best to support their children.

As you know, we love a community project at Moston Fields and this feels like the right time for one. We feel that sharing our experiences of lockdown will help our children process what has happened, understand what has been a blessing and what has been a worry and enable them to feel a collective hope for the future. If we all take part, creating a record of this time together would be an incredibly powerful thing to do to.

Let’s record this piece of history together!

    How do we take part?

    • For the next 5 weeks we will release a theme of the week – each Monday
    • This will come by email and will be promoted on our website, twitter and PFA and PIA Facebook pages.
    • As a family – with your children – talk about the theme. What does it mean to you? What did you do? How do you feel about this?
    • Then respond with – your thoughts, what your children say, a picture, a poem, a photograph – be as creative as you can. There will be some instructions and guidance with each theme.

We will collate all responses and our aim is to pull together a community book –

This will be available digitally when finished and if there is demand, we may even make it into a book! We may even be able to get some neighbourhood funding to hold an exhibition…when we can get together again!

LOOK out for the emails each week and PLEASE take part! Make history with us…

Thank you for your support and help with this.

    Best wishes,

    Headteacher

  • News on Wider Opening of Moston Fields

    Thu 21 May 2020 S. Murray

Letters that explain our view and the plans we are making have been sent to all parents and carers via email but are also on the Newsletters page.

Please see here also for the Final Parent Survey that 190 parents took part in! Thank you to all who did as it helped us in understanding the current community view on widening access to school.

We have completed a through risk assessment and have made our plans based upon what we feel we can safely offer. We will keep our plan under review throughout next half term and continue to support all of our families and provide childcare, as we have been doing since the start of Lockdown.

We appreciate that this is a difficult time for everyone and we really hope that we can return to some kind of normality as soon as possible.

Our plan is for a phased return of Year 6 and then Year 1. Other year groups will be kept under review as things change.
